Violation Policy Update PDF Print E-mail

The board has adopted the following policies regarding how violations are handled. These guidelines are provided for your information, to understand the process in which a violation is handled. We are all residents of Wickham Forest and wish to resolve any violations as quickly as possible. If any questions, please contact a board member - we want to work with you!

In general, a 1-2-3 letter policy is used for all violations, except parking on the streets/grass. By 1-2-3, a series of 3 letters will be sent out, separated by a period of time as described below, until the violation is corrected. If a 3rd letter must be sent, the homeowner will be notified at that time of any fines that may be accruing. If any fines reach $1000 accrued value, the matter will be turned over to the Wickham Forest attorney to pursue civil action. Please know this is the least desired outcome for all parties involved. Let's work together and keep Wickham Forest beautiful!

Parking on the streets and grass is an ongoing issue, and the parking policy has been stated numerous times in the past. The current board will continue implementing this parking policy. First-time parking violators will receive one letter, then after 72 hours if the parking violation is not corrected, fines will start accruing. Repeated violators will not receive a warning letter - if a letter has to be sent to repeated violators, it will notify the homeowner of accruing fines.

Here is the general period of time between letters for all other violations.

Garbage/Trash outside home: 72 hours between letters
Paint/Mildew Exterior (house/roof): 30 days between letters
Exterior Landscaping (overgrowth, trimming): 7 days between letters.

For all other violations, they will be handled on a case-by-case basis. All violation letters will clearly state the timeline guide to the homeowner. This is a topic no one enjoys discussing - so let's have everyone do their part so this doesn't even have to be an issue.

Speed Humps on Forest Run? PDF Print E-mail
Written by the Board
Tuesday, 03 November 2009 00:28

Back in the June 2009 newsletter an article stated the problem of speeding and driving on the wrong side of the islands along Forest Run Drive.  For those who have corrected this behavior, it is much appreciated by homeowners along Forest Run.  However, it continues to be a significant problem.  Numerous homeowners continue to complain about illegal driving.  It was observed during Halloween night that people continued to drive illegally on Forest Run even with all the trick-or-treaters walking about during evening hours.

Please know that homeowners are reporting violations to the police in hopes of increasing patrols in our neighborhood.  All homeowners are encouraged to report illegal activity.  It's not as important to get plate numbers and/or addresses as it is to make a complaint with the police.  Patrols are assigned by the number of complaints within a specific region.  Call the police at 409-2200 and report what you are seeing - don't assume it will be handled by others.

The board recognizes this problem and is looking into adding speed humps on Forest Run to curb this behavior.  Because it is a city street, this is certainly an option that can be exercised.  The board would prefer not to add speed humps, and expects that a majority of homeowners do not want speed humps either.  However, if violators do not stop driving illegally on Forest Run the option of adding speed humps will be seriously considered.  This is your chance to prevent that from happening.  Talk with your neighbors, talk with your visitors, and talk with your kids - make sure everyone knows that driving behavior in Wickham Forest is being monitored at all times.

Consider this also - a vehicle doing 40 mph along the entire length of Forest Run instead of the stated 25 mph will save less than 30 seconds of driving time.  Driving illegally around the islands saves only a few seconds.  Are these seconds so important that homeowners in Wickham Forest are willing to risk having speed humps installed so that safety can be upheld in our neighborhood?  Please please be respectful of your neighbors, and obey the traffic laws in our subdivision on all streets.  This is a warning and chance to make a difference!
