The conservation area between Wickham Forest (Sweet Bay) and Pebble Creek was recently the subject of a clean-up effort. In addition, we have installed a fence between the WF property and the Pebble Creek properties. As most of you are aware, this area has been subject to routine tresspass. In some cases, the Pebble Creek homeowners expanded their own yards well into WF property. Last year we were informed by Melbourne Code Enforcement that we must maintain a 100 foot area around any improved property. This requires non-native vegetation be removed and the remaining vegetation be maintained so it is not a hazard. The Wickham Forest Board of Directors will be pursuing a contract to ensure the area is keep cleared to meet guidelines provided by Code Enforcement. Here are some pictures of the property before we cleared the required area and installed our fence. This is one of the Sweet Bay homes that shows the vines and other growth that must be removed.

The recent tropical storm Fay dumped a tremenous amount of water on Brevard. Luckily many homes survived with little or no damages. Unfortunately some of our homeowers didn't survive so well. The retention ponds were over-loaded and could not handle the record-breaking rain. Do you have pictures to share? Send them to me (use the webmaster link on the Contact Us page). Summer is coming to an end and the kids are heading back to school, with this in mind, please be aware of children walking and biking as well as waiting at the many bus stops located throughout the neighborhood. In years past we have had serious issues with speeding—not just by teenagers but adults as well— taking corners way too fast and passing others on Forest Run. Please slow down. If you notice this happening, please inform the Melbourne Police Department at the non-emergency number and they will post officers during these times. Also, parents please remember there are several sexual offenders/ predators within the walking route to Sherwood Elementary. A couple of years ago we posted photos, names and offenses in the newsletter. Most of those offenders/ predators are still in the area, please make your children aware. The neighborhood watch is in desperate need of more block captains, we have had several move or resign. If you are interested please email me (

) or one of the board members. We will be holding a meeting within the next couple of months, everyone is elcome—stop by to meet your block captain ,stay up to date on the current crime situation in your area or provide input/suggestions on how we can improve our neighborhoods safety. Please remember that most crimes in our area are crimes of opportunity— unlocked cars, open garage doors, etc. Residents have witnessed or been victims of crimes occurring in broad daylight while they are at home. Remember to close garage doors anytime you are not outside and in front of the house and lock car doors at all times, even when it is in your garage. These simple steps will help prevent most crimes of opportunity. Thanks, Barbra Williams |

The front entrance upgrade is continuing as promised. A 25 foot flag pole has been approved and installed just in front of the stone sign. In the near future we will have the U.S. and a Wickham Forest flag flying. A special thank you to Mary Greenfield for all her work in making this happen! |

As requested, we have added a new Community Forum section for homeowners. Click the COMMUNITY FORUM item on the top menu bar.
The forums are setup to allow anybody to read posts, but you must be registered to post comments. This is only done to prevent the forum spamming that often happens. Please be considerate of others when posting. While we may have different opinions on a subject, everybody should be treated with respect. If you have suggestions for new forum topics, please let me know. |
